National Day Parade 2011: Google Doodle Also Celebrating 46th Birthday of Singapore: Google Doodle is also celebrating 46th birthday of Singapore’s National Day. National Day Parade is a military parade and accompanying creative show that will be held on 9 August 2011 to celebrate Singapore’s 46th year of independence. Colonel (COL) Alvin Kek, Chairman NDP 2011 Executive Committee said, “As we celebrate 46 years of nation-building, we should reflect on how the Singapore Spirit, which is characterised by unity and trust as well as our ‘can-do’ mentality, has enabled us to achieve so much in such a short span of time.”
National Day Parade (NDP) celebrations will be extended around the Marina Bay waterfront and include more than 100,000 Singaporeans. Some 800 Kolam Ayer residents kicked off the celebrations by pledging their love for the nation on a giant backdrop. Earlier, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said National Day is an event that belongs to all Singaporeans regardless of their background, race or religion.
