Today, Dr Tony Tan, Dr Tan Cheng Bock, Mr Tan Kin Lian and Mr Tan Jee Say were awarded the certificates of eligibility for the Presidential Election. I am not too surprise that the 4 Tans were eligible for the Presidential Election. Andrew Kuan and Mr Ooi were assessed to be ineligible to run for the election.
With 4 contestants for the Presidential Election, how will the results and implications pan out? First, we know for sure that there will now be a contest unless 3 contestants walk out of the contest come Nomination Day next Wednesday. But this scenario is unlikely. Secondly, we know that we will have an additional public holiday.
